Here's the QR code for my site.

What is a QR code? And how do you use it?

It's basically a bar code and when you scan it ... it takes you right to my website.  You have several options with the QR Code ...instead of linking to your website ....it can be your business card or you can link it whatever you'd like.

To scan it all you do is use an app on your smart phone.  I have an iPhone and I currently use two apps.  Both were free ..... I was trying to figure out which I liked best.  The two I use are i-nigma & Scan (QR Code City).   The Scan app is pretty basic but it works.  The i-nigma app offers a few more choices and for now I'll say my favorite ... but I've only had it a few hours so I think it's best to see which performs the best over a period of time.

If you have an Droid phone.... just seach which app gets the best reviews for QR coding.... 90% of the time that's how I decide which app to use.

Favorite app of the Week #2

My Verizon iPhone wouldn't work at KU Medical and I was scrambling to figure out how to reach my family.

So, I whipped out the iPad and started using Text Plus Silver.  I've had issues with that app ...but at the time I had no choice ...until today. 

I went in search of the best instant messaging app for the iPad and I found Textie.

I love it!!  It works exactly like your phone ...except it's on an ipad :) 

When we're back at the hospital on Friday .....I can text everyone.

I'll update you if I run into any problems.

How to fix the Auto Correction on your iphone

To turn off the Auto Correction on your iPhone here's what you need to do:

• Click on Settings
• Click on Keyboard
• Un check Auto Correction

If the auto correction is driving you crazy it only take about 30 seconds to fix it :)

How to fix an ipad if it freezes?

Has your ipad ever froze up on you?  Froze up meaning ....you pushed on a few buttons and it didn't do anything?  In other words it was locked up.

I had my iPad for 9 months before it ever happened....so don't be alarmed if it happens to you.

Here's all you need to do:

Press and hold both of the on/off switches.  You're going to press it until the apple appears in the middle of the screen.  Once that happens let go and then allow it to reboot.  Be patient ....just when you're about to freak out and think it's not going to work ...it boots up.

PDF's

My day started out today with something very weird!!!

I went to open a PDF on my computer ....and as soon as Adobe Acrobat opened ...it proceeded to open every pdf file on my computer.  Holy Cow!!  You should  have seen it!! 

I spent the next four hours trying to figure it out.

I found it .......

The problem of course was user error ...even though it pains me to say it.

Whenever you download something on a mac ...it stays on your computer until you delete it.....in your download folder.   Much like how everything you look at online is stored in your temporary files (also known as cookies).

What I didn't know was that I had 865 pdf's downloaded and left sitting on my computer. Once I deleted them ...all is well. 

Where did I get 865 pdf's? 

It was a combo of: 

• when someone places an online order with me ..I print their invoice so I can send them a thank you card.  But I didn't know that those invoices were still in my download folder
• when I create a pdf of my instructions I load it on my site ...and then I check it to make sure it downloads okay.  So that means every set of instructions I've done for the past 8 months were sitting there.   I'm lucky I didn't do more damage!!!

I hope this info helps someone from having the same problem!!

Go Daddy Motivation

I love listening or watching positive speakers!!!

This world of ours is filled with constant negativity and I find myself needing a reminder that anything is possible with a positive attitude.  I'll admit I have weeks I slip...... but then I find sites like this.....

Go to Bob Parsons blog ...the founder of Go Daddy.  I know ....if  you're like me it's possible the women in the tank tops turned you off. 

But ....just do it and then come back and tell me I was right ...just kidding!  But seriously watch a few of his videos and see if it doesn't light a fire under you.  I was feeling a little down this week and after watching some of his videos and reading his 16 Rules ..... I'm back on track. 

All I needed was a little motivation.

On a silly note ..... and who doesn't get motivated when a video starts out with AC/DC?  I love it!!

Question of the Week

How to film videos over a workstation?

Go online or to your local Wolf Camera or Best Buy and get a really large Tripod.  If you go to the store ...you'll see you want the Tripod that allows your camera to turn sideways.  (If you're a visual person ...take the camera in the store with you and you'll see what I mean.)

Or ....

Hang a camera mount from your ceiling.  Neither are pretty ...but they work.  Think about this .....have you ever watched a movie being made?  Camera & lighting equipment is bulky and not very pretty but necessary.
